Chrsitmas Day 2006 - Treasure Island
Merry Chrsitmas everyone!!! Our Christmas in Fiji has been incredible, unlike any other Christmas Ive had but simply amazing....we woke to dazzling blue skies and a wave of heat that swept through the bure, this was going to be a crazy xmas!! As the rest of the island springed into life everyone greeted one another with a jovial 'Bula Merry Christmas' as our paths crossed on the beach! We witnessed the cutting of the Christmas cake on Bounty Island before being transfered to their sister island, Treasure Island. A treasure it was indeed, this was a dramatic upgrade from Bounty the bure is devine and beaches far more prestine. Plus, theres a tennis court and gym that keeping me entertained. Its nice to be able to say "Im just off to the gym" again, its been a while.
We opened our presents in our new 'very posh' room (Sammy once again negotiated an upgrade - what a star!) I was very spoilt and will always remember Xmas06' opening presents on an island in the sun! We were greeted by our next door neighbours with 'a taste of India'. These three Indian girls were hilarious, had been drinking since 8am and spent their xmas screeching and dancing bollywood style to Indian dance music (if you can imagine such a combination!) It was good to hear some music though as my ipod broke in NZ and all my songs have been wiped never to return!!! I was so gutted - as you can imagine!!!
Christmas dinner was an indulgent and lavish affair, three course and just amazing. Sammy tucked into oysters, turkey and strawberry parfait while I had soup, whole lobster and xmas pud!! The night was perfect, a live band sung Christmas carols and mellow tunes while we dined under the stars. We were so pleased we got transfered as the island isnt comparible to our old one. The staff our so friendly and did everything possible to make Christmas a special event. We strolled back rather merry to our bure gazing at the stars above and wishing everyone a 'Merry Christmas' back home as due to the time difference they were just starting their day!!
We couldn't of asked for a better Christmas away from home, but for now its back to beach life and the daily grind of deciding between reading a book, snorkling, kayaking or a game of tennis.....decisions decisions.....
