Arrived in Jaipur at 5pm. Our driver didn't want us to get to the hotel ahead of the Kuoni rep, so we parked and walked over to look at the Jal Mahal (river palace - see photo above), where a wee boy of about 6 put on a magic show for us (for money, of course!) and quickly gathered a croewd round him. It seems there are whole families who specialise in magic - doing tricks in the street for cash. Such resourcefulness.....
I'd already decided India and Hong Kong were top of my list of utterly fabulous places to visit along with Hokkaido - but then we haven't been to Nepal yet!
Jaipur is so far from Delhi, it feels like the real India. Sanjith is from Rajasthan and is so pleased by our entusiasm, but we really mean it: what a society India is, one to watch in the future! Where else would you see goats, camels and pigs grazing at the side of the road under a sign for Vodafone outside an internet cafe?
I knew our problem with the driver/guide in Delhi would come back to bite us on the bum: we are being embarrassingly treated like royalty everywhere we go. Tonight we're going to dinner with the local Kuoni boss at the best restaurant in Jaipur. Pure guilt for this great treatment has had us tipping like mad the past couple of days. So glad Craig handled the problem - he was ace!
No time to put up more photos of India, Caro, but we'll get to it soon!

Geoff Don't be embarrassed, Jean, enjoy the luxury! Everywhere seems to top your list but I'm sure that Nepal will top them all (sorry for the pun). Off to the Troon Beer Festival - can't top your experiences.
Geoff P.S. Great photo of the two of you.
Al & Nena India looks spectacular. I have mental images of everything you describe and it makes me think of Slumdog Millionaire everytime! I agree with Geoff, enjoy the VIP treatment - this trip should be as special as possible. Both of you look so well and chilled out in the photo here. Thinking of you both every day... My October hols start tomorrow - that'll do for me right now! ps whoever gave you that shirt Craig has great taste ;)
Kay Enjoying your trip with you. The blog and photos make it very real. Enjoy the royal treatment, you deserve it!
Betti hi guys, i'm really enjoying following you around the world with your blog: you're doing a good job of entertaining your audience! i haven't been to any of the places you've visited - except london, but i'm not counting that as too exotic. however, we did travel in egypt about 25 years ago, so i understand a little of the complete culture shock you'll be experiencing in india. people leading camels down traffic-filled cairo streets, unbelievable poverty in the countryside, and a very friendly and welcoming people. morocco is similar but less intense. how much time have you left of the great adventure? i hope you continue to have a fabulous time! betti :-)
