Feeling that yesterday more than satisfied our desire to hike the Swiss Alps (and the fact that our legs probably couldn't handle any more), we all decided to hang around Balmer's for the first part of the day. I made some breakfast in the guest kitchen and then hung out with Drew and Kristian as they whittled their walking sticks from yesterday with a bread knife. I spent the beginning of the afternoon talking with Stephanie and the boys and then met two Americans named Dylan and Brittany while I was making an early dinner in the kitchen (a kilo of lasagna from the co-op). The boys had found out about a lake nearby that was warm enough to swim in and feeling like we should at least do something outside since we're in Switzerland, me and the other six Americans caught the bus there. Ten minutes later, we were standing on the shore, sipping a mixture of red wine and cola and staring awestruck out across the crystal clear water at the surrounding mountains. It didn't take long before we were all out swimming (definitely not the warmest water) and jumping off the dock floating offshore. We dried off and sat on the tiny strip of beach when a pair of swans stopped in front of us and we all whipped out our cameras to capture this perfect moment. Greg, Drew, Kristian and I started up a game of hacky-sack and spent an hour or so playing on the edge of the lake (the other 3 had already headed back) and when we finally decided to leave this amazing place, we discovered that the bus had stopped running about an hour and a half ago. So we enjoyed an unexpected walk back to town and eventually made it home just in time to grab dinner from the co-op, which is a godsend in Switzerland which is the most expensive place I've visited. We met back up with the others and spent the rest of the night partying at the hostel, even hitting up the Metro bar (which was not as much of a disappointment as before). What a trip Switzerland has been! It's such a beautiful and amazing place and I would love to return someday and explore deeper into its untouched landscape.
