So am updating this in Yosemite and although there seems to have been a lot done and seen since the last blog ended in Chicago, I have decided not to write so bloody much, there are 2 main reasons for thus, the first being I have already write a massive catch up that went from Chicago to L.A to Grand Canyon, it was inclusive of an almost hour by hour account of what and where we were, then I tried to log onto this site again to write the next bit and found it hadn't saved!!!? b*****!!? Which leads to the second reason I am not going to write SO much and that is cos....in Jens words....it's just waffle and not readable!!? So with 2 sound reasons why not to write an essay account here goes.....!
Chicago to L.A went fine, we got put into seats where the window was split between 2 so asked to move which he did no worries then got settled for the 42hr journey, we went through dense forest to ravine to canyon to prairie to desert.....and then some more desert, we stopped off in Alberquerqye (!) and got off the train for 45mins. As we got off, the heat hit us like some Industrial hairdryer, when asked it was 100C+, bloody hot!!? Another weird thing happened in alberquerquereee (!!?) we saw a postcard in the cafe for a 'jackalope', now this was a photo of a rabbit with antlers, we looked at the back for the joke but it only gave a description of its habitat. Not knowing if it was a true creature if the desert or not (no wifi to google) we left the cafe and got back on the train a little bemused at nature and wondering if It is true why Attenborough hasn't done a series on the weird breeds of animals yet....!!?
We settled well for the rest of the journey and woke next morning to palms trees lining the sides of roads, hurrah, must be in California soon. Thing was wasn't soon enough as there had been another time zone change into Pacific time so we had to endure another hour before getting off. We eventually arrived in L.A and picked up bags we hadn't seen since Washington, fortunately they were in one piece and just as heavy so knew there had been no pilfering. We then got ourselves sorted with our collection of our hire car from nr airport. Once all paperwork was sorted the clerk said we could go and collect our car from the second row, we started walking and got faster and faster eager to see what our options are; full speed must have looked more like a pair of stampeding tortoises however;
When we did eventually get to the convertible car area, our choice was limited, firstly there was no mustang, although I was a little disappointed I was kind of expecting it so not too bad, we had a choice of a Saab 93 or a Mitsubishi Eclipse in white or a grape sort of colour, although the refinement of the Saab was tempting, we opted for the sporty Eclipse (with its subwoofer poking it's head on the backseat). We squashed our bags into the boot, dropped the top and loaded the tunes and then set off, lovin the Californian convertible roadtrip.
We stopped off for a bit in Palm Springs for fuel and a bite and took onboard water as the temperature was rocketing up. We made our way over the Joshua tree National Park and Mojave Desert and arrived in Williams late, booked into the motel and settled down ready to take on the Grand Canyon on the morning.
We woke to find ourselves in the atypical wild west with route 66 to boot and as it was labor day the town was rocking with live hillbilly music and cowboys all about the place, we stayed a little longer than planned as I forgot to charge the battery on the camera like a pillock and so once we had endured the yee haa life a little, we went off to the Canyon arriving an hour or do later due the 60miles trip, once we arrived we tried to get away from the crowds and found a spot where we watched the sunset and took a few snaps. The place was amazing and quite an awe inspiring scene, We decided to return the following day and walked a few hundred feet below the rim and again the place gave out another aurora of fantasticness. Truly a mind blowing spectacle. Next stop Las Vegas....baby!

Mom Hi Jay, keep waffling, take no notice of Jenni, it is all so readable. OR get Jenni to do some readable waffling. Love it, love it, love it. The whole trip just sounds so fantastic, almost like you planned it. {:-} xxx
