We walked out of the gate of our bungalow in Muine to be greeted by a guy with a motorbike waiting to hire it to us – talk about good service!! Using a map one of the local ex pats drew for us which included the sites, red and white sand dunes, red canyon and fairy stream, we set off on the bike for our day of exploring. After a 30 minute ride we rounded a bend in the round and were greeted by children with sheets of plastic on their shoulders frantically pointing at the sand dune across the road. We were about to experience dunning for the first time! Kids gave us a sheet of plastic each and told us to pay them whatever we wanted each after the event, then proceeded to march us to the best of the dunes. Although it was not fast or furious as we or at least Dawn thought it would have been, it was fun to slide down the dunes by the seat of your pants, taking us back to our childhood memories of sledding and mattress sliding (for those of you in the know) – albeit a great deal hotter! For the privilege of this experience those pesky little kids tried their hardest to extort 100 thousand dong from us – this sum being more than we paid to hire the motorbike for the day with a full tank of fuel – knowing us two we didn’t relent! Paid them what it was worth and continued on to explore. White sand dunes were beautiful and we had them all to ourselves, we had lots of fun rolling down on our own (well Dawn did) as there were no kids with plastic sheets. see the pics
