Hello everybody. I'm writing this letter to update all of you on how the last month has gone for me.It has been full of adventure and I have seen how powerful our God really is.About a month ago I spent two weeks in Nanning, China. It was very enjoyable.China really is as crowded as they say. While I was there I had the opportunity to play music for Chinese people on the street, in coffee shops, and in a school.I developed some really good friendships with many of the Chinese youth.I was even able to evangelize to a few of them.If any of you are planning on going to China one thing you should know before purchasing your ticket is that the toilets are horrible. They are called squatty potties.I could write for a long time on just how horrifying the toilets in China are but I recommend you just Google it.
I am on my 10th week of DTS and am reaching my half-way point. It is hard to believe that I have been here so long already.Being here I have integrated prayer into my life a lot more than it was, I have learned how to live in community, I have begun to learn how to hear God speak and trust in him, and I have learned how to absorb teachings and learn (Not like I didn't learn from Dr. Bakke and Pastor John).Being here for 2 and half months now my Thai is slowly progressing. My relationships with the Thai people are progressing a lot faster though.I have really enjoyed the friendships that I have made. This last weekend I had the opportunity to go to my friend Art's house. He lives about 6 hours south of Bangkok. There I had the opportunity to see temples, beaches, and MONKEYS!
In 1 month I will be leaving Bangkok and going to different cities up north.I will be north for 2 months. While there we will be plugging into numerous different local ministries. When working with all of the ministries we will be applying everything we have learned at DTS.I would greatly appreciate if you all could pray that God would use my group to bless the community we will be reaching out to.We will be going to cities that are well known for their faith in Buddha.Recently I have been studying Buddhism so that I may be more equipped to witness to the Buddhist people. On Friday I told my friend Art that I would love to talk to a Buddhist monk.He told me it was not possible.Long story short the very next day I sat down with the head monk of the third largest temple in Thailand.I was able to ask him about his teachings and tell him I was a Christian.
I really miss everybody and thank all of you for keeping me in your prayers. Please continue to pray for me.
God Bless,
Taylor Moak
