Day 4 Peregrine tour. Local guide Ko Ko Aye.
By bus we left Mandalay City and drove to one of Burma's most famous hill stations, Maymyo (Pyin U Lwin). It did provide us a welcome escape from the heat of the plains. It was established during the colonial era in the late 19th and early 20 centuries. Today it is the crossroads for traders coming over from China. This was definitely reflected in the market.
Our group had fun exploring the markets and learning how to barter . Our local guide Ko Ko Aue was very helpful in letting us know what to look for in the local market. We returned to our bus and then each took a horse drawn carriage called a 'myin - lay' to our Burmese locale restaurant. The food at the locale restaurant was delicious.
On the way back we were lucky enough to stop at the national gardens. It was amazing. It was almost a copy of Cue gardens. These gardens used to be private ? Army owned and have only been released for viewing. Definitely worth spending 2 - 3 hours time if you have the time to explore.
