Day 10
Iguassu falls. We arrived in the afternoon, and spent some time in the town before discovering the tres fronteras, which is where the Iguassu river meets the parana river, and from this point you can see the three countries Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina. We watched this at sunset, before returning to the hostel for a quick change before our last steak and red wine of our Argentina trip.
Day 11
Up early we packed up for a day at the falls. Starting with the Argetinian side we saw the falls from a number of vistas, showing us all of the upper and lower falls before we took a bus ride into the Caratas. The power of the falls pulled us in and then threw us away. Lucky for us it was a hot day as we were soaked.
After drying off on a rock, we trekked up the Devils throat, the main point of the falls. We walked over the river, which was calm and still until it reached the edge and created the roar of the falls that you can hear for miles. Standing amidst the spray of this huge fall, all you can see is mist, water and rainbows. Truely the most amazing thing that i have ever seen.
After a few caiprinhas and a tropical storm, we headed to bed for our last night in Argentina. Brazil here we come.
Day 12
We left for the Foz do Iguazzu, the Brazilian side of the falls. We encountered administrative nightmare as we crossed the border and discovered the process we see in Britain was somewhat lacking.
Arriving in the Brazilian park, I was amazed at how underated it is as you can see the falls and even devlls throat from very different angles. After the previous nights storm we also saw alot of insects to rival the monkeys and racoons we had seen the day before.
Leaving late afternoon we headed for our night bus to Florianopolis, Brazil here we come.
Day 13,14,15
Arriving onto the island of the coast of the south mainland, we were in search for a few days off to chill out after the heavy 2 weeks of site seeing which we certainly found.
Picturesque sandy beaches, a lake set against a backdrop of hills and plenty of caiprinhas, we ate rice, beans and fejoadas and chilled out in the sun, although creating more red lobsters than bronzed brazilians, before heading off to rio for the last week, bring on the samba!
