I have woken to this view of sunshine and the Dorset countryside from my upstairs window. Though it was foggy when I arrived yesterday at Court Farm Askerswell today is beautiful and I can't wait to get dressed and explore the village with Geoff and aunty Eileen. We plan to drive to Bridport for lunch and enjoy the south coast. Apparently the tv series Broadchurch was filmed here and the creator of the series lives locally . It will be a jam packed day of sightseeing and catching up with family which started at dinner last night. Katherine and Andrew joined us for a meal and though Maggie had worked all day she had prepared a feast; beef casserole potato croquettes and veg plus the most delicious white chocolate cheesecake you will ever experience . The raspberries finished the dessert admirably. We enjoyed a lovely evening sharing stories and photos of the various whanau members including Katherine and Andrews recent wedding and my gleanings of the pilgrimage to Bratoft.
It s been a wonderful time to reconnect after 20 years. I hope it won't be quite so long till I see them again. Andrew is keen to bring his bride to Middle Earth sometime soon but they have just bought a house in Bridport so it may be a while. John and Heather will pick me up mid afternoon to continue our grand tour in the New Forest. For now I will stay in bed with jerry the cat keeping my feet warm. It is very snugly in here . I am reflecting on the drive yesterday when we passed the iconic Stonehenge Stones . They have stood for millennia and people have speculated of their meaning since history began . For me the most important thing that remains as 1 Corinthians 13 says is love faith and hope. The greatest of these is Love. The Maori put it another way when asked what is the most important thing ; "tangata tangata tangata . It is the people." On my journey it is the people who love me , my hope of a future that is full of joy and peace and my faith in my Heavenly Father which will sustain me through till the end of my days. It is the people I will remember most on this journey who have experienced the history beauty and laughter with me. Without them my life would be as cold and void as a collection of stones in a wiltshire meadow. I am missing John and Heather. Tomorrow we catch up with Jane Rogers in Southhampton. Can't wait!
