Kia Ora, to you all,
Just back in Taupo for 2 nights, after a very enjoyable 4 days exploring the East Cape. We stayed in Homestays, basiclly someones converted barn or garage !! A big shop for supplies was done in Pak 'N Save before we left as there was next to nothing in the way of shops out there (except a few service stations ). Photos of the touristy bits are all uploaded for your viewing !!! Only 7 travellers did this leg of New Zealand and we formed a tight little bond. 2x english girls, 2x german girls and Rob from Canada and me & Natalie. We learned to sing in Maori !! and managed to give a performance of our version of Corner Shops "Brim fulla Asha" !!We watched stunning sunsets and I've spent an afternoon bone carving and made a lovely neckless, we climbed 700 steps up to the most easterly lighthouse in the world and passed through an old whaling station, But I didnt get up at 6am for the sunrise, even if I was going to be the 1st in the world to see it that day..basically a very chilled out few days. Kinda glad to get back to civilization.. moving on southwards tomorrow to River Valley where, (yes,Jaimee) white water rafting will be available...watch this space,( im coping quite well with water sports and my sexy perscription goggles!!) Next we spend a night in the New Zealand capital, Wellington, before getting the 3hour ferry to Picton on the South Island. thats all for now folks... be in touch very soon. Missing ya all heaps and wish you were here too. Janet xxx
