Hey Folks me again.
Just finished 3 nights doing the 'Bottom Bus'. Very enjoyable. First day was a long trip from Queenstown to Dunedin. We stopped for a kodak moment at Baldwin Street (the steepest street in the world) and after settling in our hostel a few of us headed off to Cadbury World for a factory tour. yeeha free samples! Dunedin has 23,000 students and 40,000 perminant residents and looks like Edinburgh but without the sandstone buildings. A quick shower and use of a hairdryer and a quite night in the tv lounge, everyone was knackered. Thanks, Kim, the gas straighteners are working a treat. Next day (Fri 13/06) on to Invercargill, via Nugget Point lighthouse, where we saw seals basking in the sun, down on the beach we were able to get within 3m. Lunch in a fab wee pub and a brisk 30min walk to see a waterfall. awesome! The highlight of my day was watching rare yellow eyed Penguins returning across the rocks to their nests. Most of the bus went out to dinner together with Jason our driver, a good night was had by all!!! Next morning we stopped at a hardware shop in the city centre??? Jason informed us 3 of Burt Munro's Indian Motorcyclers were on display inside. Several of the guys and me immedatly jumped off the bus for a look-see and a kodak moment. His landspeed record breaking bike was one of them. After a pretty quiet day, not much on, but a lot of travel, arrived at Te Anua for the night. Very foggy. Today was kodak moments on the way to Milford Sound, still very foggy but it cleared up for the cruise in the fiord and the underwater observatory. We also got a great buffet lunch on board. Long drive back to Queenstown but here now and heading north 1st thing to Christchurch, Kaikoura then across on the ferry to Wellington.
Lot of love for now. Janet xoxoxo
