Hola!
I've had the most hilarious morning! Getting up at 5am has made us all hyper! We met a guatemalan guy this morning for a sunrise kayaking tour to see the howler monkeys! We got so close to them and they're so cute! I was nearly going to bring the baby one home! Only problem was that me and debbie shared a kayak and we were horrendous! Everyone was wetting themselves laughing. We were kayaking down this cute little river like in Pocahontas, and it was so peaceful until every now and then there's a crash as we hit the overhanging trees! Everyone would look around in excitement expecting to see a monkey, but there's me and debbie with bits of tree in our boat! There was one moment when we were heading towards an overhanging branch with a spider judt chilling out on it! Of course i panicked but we couldn't turn in time do i was hitting the branch with my paddle, which was shaking the boat! Debbie was screaming i dont care if the spiders in your face, just dont let me fall in, so funny. was so difficult, we kept crashing into everyone because we couldn't go straight and Erynne ended up hitting me over the head with a paddle! We couldn't stop giggling and came back for coffee and maple syrup which just spurred us on haha!
We are at another Eco lodge on the middle of this lake in rio dulce! The lodge is a lot nicer than the Eco lodge! It's so peaceful, we're sitting at the bar next to the lake! Got spare time this morning, most of the group have gone on a boat tour to livingstone, but me and Erynne are going on a jungle trek at 3 this afternoon. They take you through the canopes on bridges 15 metres high so we can see the wildlife. Let's hope I'm better at this than kayaking!
I forgot to mention the tarantula in my last blog! At the last ecolodge in San ignacio the owner took us to see his "pet" tarantula that lived in a hole beneath his house. I know this is crazy but it wasn't as bad as a little spider! Tarantulas don't move so fast so that's ok!
Can't think of much else at the minute! The place is sweet, i'll take lots of pictures! I couldn't take pics this morning because I didn't think it would be a smart idea to take my camera on the river! But sandra has some hilarious pics of our attempted kayak which she'll put on facebook soon! Jenny and brian should be able to show you mum and dad!
I haven't been able to put any pics up yet because i've been using the wifi on my iPod ( which us why there may be some typing errors, it's so hard to type in this thing!)
There was a thunderstorm last night, so nice laying in bed listening to the rain and the sounds of the jungle! The noise from the howler monkeys Is incredible for such small creatures!
Look forward to hearing news from home! Hope gonzo is ok:)
Love from the rainforest!
