Hello everyone!!
Belize is awesome! Today I snorkelled for the first time ever, which is apparently weird being from the UK! Our captain Jerry was hilarious! There were sea turtles (so happy, its like finding nemo), massive fish, sting rays (when you stroke them they're really slimy) and sharks (they are nurse sharks, not predatory so they feed by sucking so don't have teeth or I wouldn't have gotten in!)! The company called the raggamuffins are the best, they are completely into their reggae so they had it blastin from the boat. We left at 10 and got back at 4 so it was a pretty good long day on the boat. First stop was for the mantatees, second was called shark alley where they fed the nurse sharks and I petted the sting ray ( slimy) I didn'y hae the guts to pet the shark, he just flipped it and held it on its back for us.. but eeek!, third stop was the sea turtles, definitely was the best stop, cute!
Not last night, but the night before, we met "Jack Sparrow". forgot to tell you on the last blog, but Mum you would have loved this guy. He did a pretty alright impression, if not with a slight French accent! We got a few photos with him, and one hilarious one with our tour rep (which hopefully will upload OK)!
This place is an absolute dream. There's a house for sale!! Debbie took my pic next to, so I will show you soon! But I took a pic of a pink and white house especially for Eleanor:) When I win the lottery I think she will love it (just because its pink)!
Yesterday we hired bikes and cycled around the island. It was so beautiful! We had a good look around and then went to the split (a place where the island was split ny the hurricane in 1961). We had what is called a Lizard drink, so strong. It was lucky me and Debbie shared it!! We met a local reggae legend called DanMan, which was funny enough until we found out his real name was Trevor!!! He said you both have really common names on this island, except for Jane (there was only me and Debbie there haha)!! I may just retire here and become a rastafarian for the hell of it!
There are a lot of dogs on this island, and a lot of them are strays:( Yesterday, one of our girls got bitten when she was cycling. She was just cycling past this house, and the dog was "being territorial", and chased after her and bit her. Apprently it has bitten like 3 times this past week, and the police said they will put it down... but you know! This was yesterday, amd the tour rep took her to the main land today for her jab, luckily like me she has the rabies jabs!! Unfortunately she missed the snorkel trip but we just saw her then, and she is OK! What a nightmare! Now we are all paranoid of ANY dog, which is had on an island full of them! Such a shame because it wasn't like she was stroking it!
Sunburnt has healed nicely and quickly. Now me and Deb are going to find a quick dinner before we join the others on the split for sunset!
Oh and almostr forgotten to mention yesterday! Me and Deb went to the restaurant early and hung around in a hammock drinking the local beer, honestly these guys have the life!!! I'm slowly ticking off my to do list, swim on the ocean, snorkel, hang in a hammock, drink rum... its good! We had a family style meal at this local place that our tour rep knows, he cooked everything (they like meat), ribs, pork (just for you Dad), lobster, shrimp, chicken, noodles etc and we all just dig in. It was so sweet under this canope with the night lights. making up for it now with all the mnosquito bites, grrr!
Love you all xXx
p.s. dad you know I was talking to you too on my last ps, being the skinny one in the family and all:) I said hi to manwell for you!
p.p.s the pic is me and Debbie with stained tongues after the rum punch:)
p.p.p.s. I tried uploading photos, and I have a few from Mexico but it takes so long, so I'll upload a few each time!
