Portrush and The Giants Causeway.
The BnB at Portrush had a view of the harbour, the sunset and the rescue boat bobbing away in the swell. Indeed a picturesque place. The evening was topped off with Nicole and Robin's choice of Restaurant were we dined again on sumptuous lamb, seafood and a very creative desert that defied all description except to say that it was truly a master piece in size and delight. From honeycomb crumble to mascarpone sweet cheese to hazelnut and ice cream. Portrush was cold, so cold that I thought icicles would form on Keith's moustache. We cut our after dinner walk short, it's really difficult to get any exercise here. Short days and chilly nights just doesn't do it for me.
Sunday morning, was crisp and icy. We left Portrush after following the local band and contingent, marching to the Sunday service for remembrance day, to the "Giant's Causeway". I had so many layers on and still felt cold, it did warm up by 10 am. It was about 5C by now. I think the sun defrosted me. The Giant's Causeway is a world heritage site and unique in the geological pentagonal formations that are uniquely found here. Obviously there is no other place. I must say coming to areas 'out-of-season' is good in that there are no crowds. We often say that it would be lovelier in summer and with the longer days the trip would be more delightful, but then we would have to put up will all the 'other' tourists. So we take the bad (colder weather) with the good (fewer people and easier to get accommodation) and enjoy what we have done. Aren't we lucky.
Thanks Keith for driving safely.
And now back to Dublin.
