My brief stay in 1770 was a good one; the hostel I was staying at was really cool and the people were nice and friendly. I missed out on doing $16.50 surfing as I arrived too late but did manage to go out in the sea without a stinger suit and relax on a body-board. Then I realised that sharks probably hang around these waters and decided it would probably be best to sit on the beach....
Late on in the afternoon I went out on a three hour Choppa motorbike tour, that's right, I got to ride a motorbike (and nearly crash). The ride was cool and the bikes could do 80kph max. Let's just say I know they go that fast as I maxed mine out when racing others (road safety) along quiet outback roads and whilst spotting Skippy and his mates. Good job I didn't have any Rolos. We pulled up to a beach bar and watched the sunset before returning home.
The next morning it was Australia Day and I caught the Greyhound south to Bunders. The coach was 'all mine' as I was the only passenger on board and spent the 90 minute journey chatting to the driver. Bunders in home to Bundaberg Rum and with it being Australia Day I thought it would be rude not to sample the local tipple. I would have gone through with this if I hadn't found beer for just $2 a glass. What followed was several (7) hours of drinking and me climbing into bed at half five this morning. Dirty stop out and all. Was such a good night and I managed to scare several local kids away by keeping them chatting about what they do and then telling them I'm a teacher.
Right, well that's all for now, off to see turtles tonight before heading down to Hervey Bay and Fraser Island tomorrow. Have a great weekend and I'll update again soon, hopefully with pictures.
