Hi everyone....sorry for being lame at not writing about our travels but we have been so busy.....not doing much....it's hard to get in a writing mood ;-)
After blagging a free ride to Siem Reap, Cambodia, with the tour Chloe and Katie were on, we spent more time there then we entended! Unfortunately, I had a really bad reaction to our Maleria tablets resulting in a trip to the doctor wanting to inject me with some unknown substances, After reading that regardless of any qualifications..if you have $1200 you can get licence be a doctor in cambodia!!!!!!!!!
didn't speak any english.. Doctor wanted to injected me with some unknown substances!James wouldn't let them, so they gave me about 5000 tablets too take!!! Then we had to pay nearly 100 pounds to see the doctor for 5 minutes who didnt speak ANY english! So james took me back to the hotel and made me rest in bed.. I was getting really scared as I felt like I was having a really bad trip and had no control over my brain! Read on the maleria instructions that I had almost all the symptoms and to seek medical helps immediatly....so we did the right thing! Very scary though especially with all my mossy bites! Stopped taking them! More trouble then they worth...
ANYWAY...After a few days of rest, Chloe and Katie left us to carry on with their tour and James and I went to visit the beautiful temples of Ankor Wat! Absolutely breath taking! The soaring towers will stay etched in our memory for a long time!
Next day, we took a bus to the hectic capital city, Phonm Penh. We visited the prison S-21 school were all the cambodian and other countries prisoners of Kmer rouge under Pol Pot control! We decided not to visit the killing fields afterwards as we felt it is not right to glorify it as a tourists! The main reason being that they could have since had the time to pay full respect to the bodies by burring them or burning them as if they havent died with any dignity in the first place! The tourist industry pays to come to see the damage done and as it is one of the many attractions to the city with seems to be developing rapidely but they arent doing anything about it...just leaving all bones to stick out of the ground!!!!
The thing with cambodia, it's a 3rd world country and Over 50% of the population is under 18 years of age! So you get lots of children trying to hold your hand and beg. Very hard and sad to see how poor the country is but 1 good thing is...everyone is smiling!
On a happier note, we left Cambodia to embrace a 7hr bus journey to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam! Less poorer country and still very smiley people!:-) We crawled through the clostrophobic Chu Chi underground tunnels systems, home to the Vietcong during the Vietnam war. 250kms of tunnels! And now we are in a small beach town called Mui Ne for a bit of sun and relaxation...yet again....Meeting up with Chloe and Katie again for a few days today in Nha trang we we'll be doing a bit of snorkling, diving and P*A*R*T*Y bating! Wouhouohou...:-)
Anything good happening back home? Hope everyone is good!!
MWAH XXXXXXXXXX
Lots of love, Nu and Jamesxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
