Yo
We have now successfully moved on from Rio to the lovely coastal town of Paraty. Our hostel overlooks a beautiful sandy beach and the sun has been in full flow since we arrived.
Our four hour bus journey was easy and the air conditioning was a god send because it was very hot. Packing beforehand was not so easy, but I got there in the end (Mike had already packed the night before, but I prefer to live life on the edge! Haha)
The night before our Rio departure we dined out at an all-you-can-eat restaurant and ate chicken hearts, which were surprisingly ok! They did look a little bit like something out of a bushtucker trial though and we were expecting Ant and Dec to appear at any moment, but it wasn't to be.
(Talking of z-listers. I met Liam from a previous Big Brother series in a club in Rio the other night - very nice guy!)
Back to reality, and the food was great at the restaurant. There was plenty of meat and waiters kept coming around to our table with big pieces of beef and chicken (at least we told ourselves this is what they were) and carving them up on our plates.
We both shed a few tears when we left Rio (we didn't really, but this sounds good. We do miss it though!). We made some great friends in the hostel and are planning to return next year!
We dined out last night at a restaurant - there are too many to count here - in the windy cobbled Paraty streets. Fresh fish fillet with a tasty shrimp sauce was our dish of choice and it went down very well! There was even a live band playing - well a man with a voice and a guitar, who nodded his head continuously, like the dog on the Churchill advert, throughout his songs.
The people here must be very proud of their quaint little town as you cant move anywhere without seeing a shop full of 'Paraty' t-shirts or a local wearing one! However at around 3 pounds each, the t-shirts do represent a very good bargain! And one we will probably be taking advantage of.
Tomorrow we are going to go on a boat trip, which will take us to various beaches. So fingers crossed the weather will be good.
I bid you all farewell for now.
I hope the weather is rubbish wherever you are, and good for us!! Hahaha.
