Another day trip was on the cards today and we caught the train (James nearly didn't) to Arashiyama in order to view the Bamboo groves. Finding this so called forest proved to be more difficult than originally anticipated. When we did find them it was slightly disappointing in terms of quantity. Yet, the green groves and heights of this very Asian tree provided beautiful pictures and an enchanting atmosphere.
The day was still young so we tackled the bus system and ended up at Ginkaku temple-one of Kyoto's most famous. It turns out this fame was for good reason. It was a less ostentatious Amritsar with the lack of holiness and some gold but made up for this with beautiful surroundings.
It was back to the station for dinner and a walk around the shops for an ATM that accepted our foreign card. We took our time looking out over Kyoto's main road and enjoyed a mini light show on the top floor stairs.
Another great day in a beautiful city full of gems.
