We pulled into Madrid at about 630, got ourselves checked in, quickly got changed and headed out again. Our guide from the bus Amy took us out for the first part of the evening. We first went to a Tapas bar called El Tigre. This place was like a rabbit warren, small little areas to stand off the main sort of walk way. Here is the true tapas style bar. It was absolutely packed and had to squeeze the whole group in to the back of the bar. We had the owner come down and take orders for beer and sangria (again, much nicer than Barcelona) which were 5 euro each. The drinks came out almost instantly and then after that started coming the plates of tasty tapas! You get tapas with every round of drinks you buy. Then we left there and Amy lead us to some food markets called San Miguel. This isn't as big as the markets in Barcelona but is for food tasting, getting a meal and a small amount of produce to buy. You can get a drink of beer or sangria and just wander around tasting everything on offer. Jason had some mini dark ales and some octopus tapas there that was amazing.
Then after the markets we headed to the Flamenco bar where the show started at 1145. The flamenco dancers were amazing, costumes beautiful and the guitarists and singers so talented and full of emotion!! We took a lot of video here, words just cannot describe it!
We left the hostel after having churros (Spanish doughnuts) for breaky with Dan and Eloise, who we had been with for a while. We headed for the airport to leave for Athens.
