So we got into Valencia just after midday as it is only a half way stop to Madrid. Again we haven't booked at the drop off hostel as it was booked out. So it is a 15 minute walk to our hotel as the metro tends to go around the city centre rather than directly into it (yea go figure!). We seem to be the only people from Busabout staying here and it is a little difficult to find but we finally make it in. The next mission is to find a laundromat as the are no washing machines at the hotel. Turns out the laundry is another 15min walk from where we are staying. So we throw all our washing into bags and walk over. As there was no time to dry them before we head out for dinner with our mates we lug it wet back to hotel room and use every hanging space possible to hang it out so our room looks like one big creative washing line by the time we head out for dinner. So much for our afternoon off :) we met up with the others and start wandering some of the streets to find some tapas. We eventually find something, all though it was rather hard being a late Sunday arvo! The food here really wasn't that great but the Sangria at this place is much better than what we had at the cooking class in Barcelona. Am going to attempt to make this at home :) After this I was absolutely exhausted and needed a night in so I stayed at the hotel whilst Jas and the others went to watch two of the soccer matches.
The next day we had a bit of a sleep in before we attempted the metro system to get to a bike tour we were booked in for at 10am. We could definitely tell we had left the lovely Barcelona metro system as the ones in Valencia are completely different :( took a bit of figuring out but made it where we needed to go. Ill let you know where we visited in my next blog.originally the Turia river went through the centre of the city but flooded the city by about 3m above the banks of the river. So they made a decision to re-route the river around the city and out to the sea, leaving the original river beds empty. In the end they decided to give each section between each of the bridges to a different architect to design a park. We used a lot of these to avoid riding on the roads, sort of like a freeway for bikes, it works quite well.
After the tour we headed back to the hotel for showers and then headed on another hunt for decent tapas. This time we were extremely successful :) we found 2 places. One was a typical restaurant style setup and then the second we went to was like a self serve type place. You get a plate and look at all the different types of tapas that have toothpicks in them. Each different type of toothpick represents a different price and you keep them to pay at the end.
This tapas place was amazing!!! And so cheap :) everytime they brought a new dish out they would ring a bell... we would shout Olae!! That bell was our best friend :)
After that we went back to the pick up hostel to watch the soccer and have some more drinks.
Today is off to Madrid. We ended up going back to the same tapas bar we went to last night for brunch, said goodbye to a few friends and jumped on our last busabout bus. We are due in Madrid in another hour or so and then it will be out for dinner/tapas tonight and then some flamenco dancing later after that.

mum well another town passes by. It sounds very busy over there with lack of accommodation. I guess Dubi is coming up fast and then home.
