Central California is a mixed bag for me. I love the coastal areas but the inland bits have few redeeming factors! If it weren't for some lovely friends and family...we would have skipped it...too hot and dusty! Okay, seeing the worlds food grown on massive farms is beautiful and heart warming. This area is known as the "bread basket of the world". The fruits and veggies from the roadside stands taste and smell delicious! Although I should note they don't look perfect, but that's life, right? The locals say that their supermarkets are filled with the same produce from all over the world that ours in Chicago are. Hmmm, where are ours going? Seems silly!
Bako - lovely mini family reunion, catching up with old friends and neighbors, staying at the "Hamilton Resort".
Oceano - fishing the pier, fish and chips, catching 80 fish in one morning, elephant seals (huge), wild zebras, hanging with the auntie and uncle in their beach pad.
Fresno - Grammy time, transformers 3, bad mani/pedi.
Gustine - high school friends reunite, margaritas, kids swimming, Kavi driving the "mule".
Firebaugh - card games, mexican train, bonfires, pool time, cantaloupe packing plant tour, Bernie.
