OLIVIA: Jeez Jak & I are not in the mood for this 9am lecture we had a horrible nights sleep in our s*** pit room! None the less we are here to dive!
We arrive in our classroom and sit down ready to learn, literally like being back at school in a classroom with a whiteboard, desks the lot. Our teacher is an English bloke called Anthony Griffiths, he is the most over the top & extreme guy ever, he's the type of bloke who I know would irritate the life out of my dad but to be fair to him he loves what he does & made us all feel enthused & safe about the next couple of days.
Lecture over which went on for agesss due to Anthony bleeting on about his personal life we had our lunch ready for our next session which was a practical in the pool... This is where it all went a little down hill for me!
This pool isn't very big & there are a lot of us in this particular group so everything took a little longer then usual... In total we were under water for two and a half hours! It was amazing yet strange at the same time, but there were specific skills you had to master in the pool & I could do all but one. I can be slightly dramatic at times & I'm pretty emotional but everything just got the better of me today. This skill was taking off your mask while under water and putting it back on, then clearing all the water from the mask... Still under water. Jak was my buddy for the course and he was to my right so as Anthony came around Jak went first, he done this fine with no problems at all... Then it was my turn, uh oh I shot up to the surface! I hated it as soon as I took that mask of I couldn't get to grips with changing your breathing inhale through you mouth exhale through your nose ... Simple right? I just couldn't do it! Being tired, and frustrated with not being able to do it I came to the surface and didn't want to continue... Jak came up with me supporting me & telling me how well I'd done but I just felt annoyed with myself and surprised at how easily I crumbled! That was it I'm not doing it and like a brat I got out the pool!
Later that evening everyone talked me into continuing so I thought I could only give it a go , and I'm glad I did.
Our first day diving in the sea oh boy here we go...and a 6.30am start... yawn! Once in the ocean it was better I didn't feel so claustrophobic. On our first dive we saw lots of live coral , like flowers they open and close as you swim past, we also saw stingray & multiple fish but thankfully no sharks, or sea snakes!!! That evening we just chilled and had a meal together as your not allowed to drink and dive, not that the boys listened to that! Last two dives tomorrow & another 6.30am start!
