(I know I've been really bad about updating this)
So today was the 1st of the 2 weddings :) and it wS Rodrigo's sister Erika and Mario
It was literally THE most beautiful wedding I had been to!!!! It must have cost an absolute fortune because everything was the best you could get!!!
So I get told that there is a mini bus coming to the house at 5pm and he will be driving 12 of us to the wedding. So I get ready (hindered by the fact I forgot a travel adapter for my GHDs and came on JUST as we were about to leave) and prepare to leave. I must say I have never felt so underdressed in all my life, but I'm skipping ahead.
We get in the minibus and drive out the gates then Rodrigo's dad realised he has forgotten something so jumps out the minibus and splits his brand new suit trousers! (This is father of the bride!)
So were late leaving as he has to change. Now we get to São Paulo town centre which is where the wedding is and I freak out because rodrigo and Pri are part of the wedding pArty but are the only ones I know who speak English! So they leave and Pri's mum and Samba dance teacher (who is a spitting image of Taylor Lautner (the werewolf out of twilight guy)) and a lovely older gentleman (who's name I never quite caught) who is Rodrigo's friend Michele's dad
So we go in and we take our seats in the ceremony hall and we are 2 rows from the front. There are white pillows and candles everywhere and palm trees and it's just absolutely stunning. They had trees with the small lanterns hanging in them with tea lights it was just beautiful !
Now my first embarrassing thing was that obviously I don't speak portugese so have no idea when the priest says stand or sit. The bridesmaids wAlk in (there's like 15 and their all skinny tanned with fake boobs and the most sparkly glamourous dresses I've ever seen), erikas dress is stunning (typically I forgot to take a photo) and she is at the altar while the wedding planner straightens her dress. By this point we've been standing throughout the bridesmaids entrance and didn't hear anyone say sit down which everyone behind my row did straight after the bridesmaids walked in soooo there we are everyone sitting down standing in the middle of the ceremony! Cringe
There was also the whole "their doing catholic rituAls and I'm not a catholic so do I do them to be polite or not because it's not my religion" dilemma!
They had a choir singing gospel music at certain points and Mario walked into the ceremony to the godfather theme tune it was awesome!
Overall the ceremony was gorgeous and the traditions they have are lovely!
So the ceremony ends and we leave the room so it can be setup for the disco. We go back to the lobby and have drinks (the waiters had trays of glasses with ice and a bottle of spirit in the middle with mixers at hand ready - awesome service) and have a band playing that reminded me of steptoe and sons theme tune ...but they were awesome!
When the doors open we go and get a table there's no formal seating plan and there is a DJ playing. Drinks continue to be brought round and the waiters would just continuously top up your champagne. After the DJ they had a live band singing cover versions of the couples fav songs complete with smoke machine jet things(that sprayed a jet of smoke up in the air) - my fav was their billie jean
After that band the DJ came back on before Erika's surprise for Mario - the drum band and carnival dancers from
The School of Samba! They were fantastic and kicked off an hour of samba and Brazilian music
Them the events team brought round bags filled with glow sticks, feather bias, funky glasses, flashing rings etc for people to wear (apparently a Brazilian tradition!)
Then there was an announcement that the ladies shoes would be handed out at the back of the hall- now another Brazilian tradition they have flip flops that they give to the ladies to change into if their feet hurt - and not just any flip flops - these had all been customised in gold and cream and had E&M On them for Erika and Mario and came in a little bag with the same ! Definitely stealing that for my wedding I thought it was lovely!!!!
So the samba finished and were still going with the DJ playing all current music- I got a samba lesson off of the samba instructor from twilight (I sucked) and drank sensibly (1 champagne 1 water) whilst vogueing on down
Only downside I must have lost weight since I bought my jumpsuit because it kept falling down and then I was treading on it...annoying!!!
We carried on partying and dancing until 5am when our buss came to pick us up....people were still going!
I fell asleep on the hour drive home and then rolled into the house to make a sandwich and then sleep(but I ended up doing this instead so appreciate it :p) it's not 7:23am (11:23am London time) and I'm meant to be up at like 10! Good luck to me!
I think I'm going to some waterfalls tomorrow (if were not all dying) so I promise to be better at writing on here and taking pictures :) )
Miss you all loads but must say Brazil is fricking awesome!!!!
