Day 3 Exeter to Chepstow
Having woken up fairly early it was a horrible feeling still having heavy legs from our excursions the day before. We left Exeter feeling very sore and tired hoping that today couldn't possibly be as hard as the previous day, we were wrong.
Initially the flat Devon countryside gave our legs a much needed rest and also meant we could keep up a good speed quickly eating up 20 miles. However just outside Wellington disaster struck when my cycling partner, Toms' panya rack decided it had had enough and broke making it impossible for us to carry on with our payloads. We decided to send all of our camping gear home at a local post office and stay in hostels instead.
The results of shredding about 10kgs each were evident almost instantaneously making it far easier for us to climb and also reducing wind resistance. We then passed into Somerset and despite my panyas deciding to fall off a few times, made good time due to the flat terrain. We did hit one large hill just outside cheddar which took it's tole on our legs.
Finally the severn bridge came into sight and feeling exhausted from cycling about 110 miles we decided to cut our journey short and find a b&b Chepstow.
Hopefully the great weather we've had continues for the rest of the trip however it's given me the most horrendous tan lines.
I'm going to go to bed now as we have another big day tomorrow and I'm definitely going to need to rest up to save my energy!
