Last time we spoke I believe it was the day we arrived in Belgrade. Not a bad few days in the end. We decided to gourge ourselves on a decent meal as we knew we'd be living pretty cheap the next few nights. I had 'local' style ribs, which were amazing. Cooked in a lovely fruity concoction and served with potato wedges and fried onions and peppers. One of the best meals I've ever had. And it was reasonably priced. Tom had chicken in a creamy sauce with pasta whilst James 'peasant' houghton had bulls penis. Deep fried. It was as pleasant as it sounds, leading to a near case of chunderbird 3. Following this meal ee headed to the beerfest. The real reason we had come to Serbia. And of ddnt dissappoint. It was huge. And when I say huge I mean big, like as big as reading festival. But FREE! Many beers were tried including one that tasted just like sprite. They even had music there and the whole festival was being broadcast on Serbian MTV. So the Serbs certainly know how to party.
The day after however was not so good. LONG day. Out of hostel by 10. Train not til 9.30pm. 11.5 hours to kill in Belgrade. What do you do? Find the.cinema and watch Serbian Captain America of course. Luckily it was in English with Serbian subtitles. The rest of the day was spent walking around shopping centre. Upon getting the night train to Zagreb, ee discovered that my bed was 3/4 the size of a midget so I slept curled upon that without any sheets. Mistake. I have now literally been eaten alive by mozzies and bed bugs. All over. Looks like chicken pox. Had pretty much no sleep before arriving in zagreb at 4.50am, yum. We then made our way to the beach in Rijeka. This trip consisted of 4 hour train, 1 hour search for the beach, half an hour of being preyed upon by an elderly Croatian paedophile, 1.5 hours at the beach and then another 4 hour train journey back to zagreb so we could catch the night train to Venice. The train beds were full so we had no choice other than to get seats. Horrendous. 7 hours on a delayed train with a mixture of annoying foreigners and UK gap yarrr.students, who would not shut up. Even at 2 in the morning. I calculated I had about 2 hours 'sleep' last night. Not fun. Today we arrived in Venice, got lost straight away trying to find our apartment. Now we are napping in preparation for a good evening and day tomorrow. We have booked our night train from Venice to Bratislava which leaves tomorrow night. It's a long one, about 12 hours.
For now I must depart as I am suffering from a lack of sleep. Chinqui. Xx
Ps - James spoke to Canadian girls last night at the train station. However I had to be his wingman and get the convo started.
Pss - I got shat on by a pidgeon at the station last night, classic s***ty Croatia.
