Jackirmic adventures
After exploring villages that were famous for ancient Roman battlefields we stopped to explore Castiglione del Lago. It was fortified during the Middle Ages in the 16 Century it was owned by the Papal States. Pope Julius III gave the village to his sister whose son built the castle and underground passages connecting the fort. The frescoes in the Palazzo della Corgna were amazing. The fort was reached from the palace through a covered tunnel - meant as an escape route. Fantastic views of the lake from the Fort and everyone enjoying water sports in the heat.
