Hi all,
sorry haven't been update the blog that must but have been well busy. In my final week of the China tour and have just got into Guilin last night (the place where the photo is from!) seems a pretty cool place though the main town is pretty touristy. The tour so far has been absolutly amazing. Started off in bejing where we hiked a section of the great wall, which is a lot more steep and hard work then it looks on tv. ( took two hours to do, in 35 degree heat was a bit of a killer.) After that went out for a 'chinese banquet' with the whole group, the food was pretty good and cost about two pound each ( including beer.)
From there got a 12 hour overnight train to xi'an, which was a bit of an experience, to see the treacottsa warriors. The tracotta warriors have probably got to be one of the most over-rated attractions ever. All you get to see is a bunch of clay men lined up in a pit about 30 meters away, followed by some rubbish museum after. Though did get to see a grown man urinate into a bin inside the museum, got to love the polite chinese?! Spent two days in xi'an cant remember what i did on the second, which probably meant i spent most of the day drinking (its less then 30p a pint over here) After Xi'an got another overnight train (this time 16 hours!) to Chengdu, to see the the Pandas. The pandas where pretty cool, they spend most of there time eating and sleeping a life-style i can very much relate to :-)
After Chengdu spent the week or so travelling through Dali and lijang both of which are quite heavily westernised, which meant i was able to get a burger again which was a bit of a relief. Sorry Cameron havent tried a Chinese McDonalds yet, despite the fact they are everywhere, have tried a KFC though which was intresting they put soy saurce in the twister meal. Also climbed Omi mountain whilst i was in that area, which was pretty impressive. It had a 70ft gold statue at the top.
After Lijang took a 3 hour bus ride to tiger leaping gorge, which has been by far the best thing on the tour so far. Spent the first day climbing up the gorge, which in one part you asend something like 600ft in less than 20 minutes. the scenery is absolutley breath taking. Spent the night in a guesthouse at the top of the gorge where you could see all the mountains and the river from your bedroom window, by the far the best view ive ever had from a hotel. After that have come to Gulian. Anyways got to go, will try and update more frequently and upload some more photos. x (by the way have given up on the beard:-(
