hi all,
Just a quick blog to let you know where i am... Currently in Cambodia, have been here for three days, after arriving from bangkok. Combodia is a pretty cool country, done loads of things so far, seen the angkor wat which was amazing but starting to look the same after 5 hours there. Then after that have come up to Pon penh, which is the capital and where most of the genocide happened in the country. When and saw S21 today, which used to be a school but during the kuhm rouge (?) was turned into a prision/ torture camp... very similar to a nazi concentration camp i would imagine. After that went on to the killing field which is a series of mass graves, and saw the musuem there which literally had thousands of skulls inside was pretty horrific. Our guide told us that when the kuhm rouge got to power in 1975 the population of Cambodia was around 7 million, after they were toppled in 1979 the population was under 4 million.
Have had a pretty wierd diet so far in Cambodia, over the last couple of days have eaten; Tranatula, crickets, snake, kangeroo, goat, ostrich, and probably the worst smelling fruit in the world a dorrian made me want to throw-up. Apart from that all the food was pretty good, though not as good as the yak and pig intestine i had in China :-) Its also real hot over here, must be in the 30's and the humidty is unbelievable. It makes even simple tasks into a complete mission, im sure even making nick bailey look like a mug over here would be hard work;-) Will try to update the blog again when i get into vietnam.
