I was pretty anxious of getting to Baira. All the guide books say it's the most dangerous city in Mozambique, and one place to steer clear of is the bus station from late afternoon till morning. We were due to arrive at midnight!
All worked out in the end, we had to wait 2 hours until the next coach down to Vilancoulos (south). We waited outside and kept our Whit's about us.
The coach dropped us off at the turn off for Vilancoulos and we caught chappa to the town. Tom wasn't feeling quite himself, and was complaining a lot more than usual, he was really cold! He also turned down freshly roasted cashew nuts off the trees in this area! He loves cashews!!
Staying in baibob's backpackers was lovely. Right on the beach.
We went for a walk, booked on a island trip for the next day and went to hospital for tom. He has malaria. 3 days of 8 pills and he's cured.
Met some nice Ozzie guys and spent the night with them whilst tom was sleeping.
My throat has finally managed me to eat solid foods! I managed to eat a pizza, and finish it all! Was very painful, but I needed some food. Malaria tablets are not to be messed with!!
