We woke at 3 and having already packed our bags the previous night we snuck out to fatimas backpackers, 20 mins away.
Fatamas do a Dior to door bus from Tofo to Maputo every morning, which was priceless for us. Yet again I attracted the biggest momma on the bus who looked like she enjoyed sweating on me whilst squeezing me against the window for the 9 hour journey...
Once in Maputo, we dropped out bags and locked valuables away except passports, police often check and fine/bribe if you haven't got it. Priority was busses so we headed down town. Turned out there was a bus to Jo'burg that night at 1830! I booked. So did Tom.
We ate until we were fit to bust, since tho food was literally 1/5th of the price of Tofo! We also met a German girl, Laura. She was working on sea turtle research just above at St Lucia on the boarder of Mozambique, and she was catching the ferry for a fraction if the price of my coach. Although I'm not sure St Lucia was accessible from her place. I'd already booked. She came for a little snack before we left since she was on her own. Tom and I caught the luxury coach to Nelspret, passed boarder control stress free then arrived, where, for the first time Tom and I went different ways.
Tom was really keen on doing a safari in Kruger, and I was not. I had heard so many tales along the way, which would shatter my safari dreams, so I decided to visit Hannah in St Lucia. I may not see as much, but I would avoid traffic jams, speed cameras and even car crashes one group of lads saw! Defeats the idea for me, I'll meet him in St Lucia in a fee days....
Onwards to Jo'burg for me. Arrive at 0400 and next bus to Richards bay is at 0830. Nice coaches, and pretty quick too.
