So, first day of work! Up bright and early at just after 5, although didn't need to be up until 7! Slept very well in the dorm which is a large A-frame structure made out thatch and naked wood, very nice and airy.
First job was to clean the pool. They have been rebuilding the main restaurant floor which over hangs the pool and due their main builder injuring himself they are way behind schedule. Their main local builder who managed to almost pop his eyeball out due to a red hit spark going straight into his eye socket, still came to work the next day, his eye almost gone!!!
Anyway, due to all this building work the pool was empty and a thick layer of cement had bonded everywhere! We scrubber and scrubbed, I felt I had done a bit too well after seeing Toms half of the pool which was visibly a darker colour... After doing a sterling job of the pool I was asked to see if I could unblock the drain for the pool which was apparently full of shells, solving the problem with a large steel rod and some muscle we had breakfast.
During breakfast I was thankful to find out Ian was find if his English breakfast tea although they seem to use the same tea bag 3 times!!!
Next was sanding a large room in preparation for linseed oil the next day, there was a lot to do and had to be done before lunch.
During lunch we tried a soft drink produced from the cashew fruit, and from this point on I was addicted!! It was really refreshing and very different to anything I had tried before, must be drank with large quantities of ice.
We managed to get all the sanding done, much to their surprise so we started oiling and finished that before dark too, so went for a snorkel.
In no more than 6m if water we saw lionfish, moray eels, grouper (very large fish) angel fish and a vast amount if jelly fish species. After watching the sun set we went back, ate supper and retired to bed after meeting some if Ian and Pj's Indian friends.
