Hello Fans and Friends, it's time again for another update on my life.
I have officially left Noosa now, after three lovely months. Olivia arrived in Australia on Saturday morning, and we spent 3 nights in Noosa Backpackers, chilling so Olivia can get over her jetlag. Unfortunately, she has been really ill these past few days, so we didn't do much apart from read and sleep. Luckily though, the weather has been rubbish so we didn't miss out on much.
The Backpackers was nice, we shared a 4 bed dorm with 2 other girls from Denmark (or Germany as Olivia kept saying). They were nice enough but we were uncomfortable knowing they could be talking about us in their secret language. Or their Danish. Anyway the place also had a pool which was nice and outside our room was a kitchenette so we thought...great! Had a search around, literally NOTHING in the cupboards. No pots, pans, plates...nothing. We had to use the communal kitchen downstairs with like other people all sharing pots and pans and kitchen space. We were expecting a really friendly atmosphere too, and we didn't really feel one. Everyone sort of looks at what food you're making ($1 pasta and sauce) whilst they're cooking their chicken breast and potatos. Bloody judgemental. Sly glances across the kitchen to see if you're finally done with that pan you've been using for all of 5 minutes. ANYWAY OTHER THAN THAT, it was a nice place. I showed Olivia a bit of the national park, and we saw a wild koala! That was exciting. We also had a BBQ with the fam to say bye to eachother on the last night which was nice...along the river (undercover because of the rain). It was sad saying bye but I know i'll see everyone soon enough, because i'm definately coming back.
Catching our coach from Noosa to Surfers meant an early rise, we had to be there 30 mins before departure so due there at 9.40am, but got the 9am free bus from the backpackers (would NOT be able to walk far with my rucksack. It is so heavy, bloody toiletries). At about 10am i began to worry slightly because the bus still wasn't there, turns out it was running an hour late. It was alright though because we made some friends at the bus stop, mainly with this Swedish guy called Jonas ("'as in the Jonas Brothers"") who we had a laugh with on the way to Brisbane. Stuff that there is no point writing about because you really just had to be there. I will mention Olivia's scavving though...
German guy (whilst eating noodles) to me: You hungy?
Me: No, Olivia is though.
German: You want to try?!
Olivia: LET ME JUST GET MY FORK!
This made me laugh a lot.
So we finally arrived in Surfers around 4pm and walked a 15 min walk from the bus stop to River Drive, where we are staying. My shoulders are KILLING ME this morning...urgh.
We're staying in a big house just opposite the river, about min walk from town. It's really nice, we have our own large room with two double beds in it, and an ensuite (WITH A BATH! I had one last night and basically fell asleep in it...i've missed my baths). There is also a pool (which i will take my first dip into shortly). Everyone here is really nice, and there is also another couple from the UK staying here. We all went out last night for a $5 dinner. Fish or Steak (olivia could NOT get her head round the choice. ""FISH AND STEAK?""). Wasn't bad for 5bucks.
Well that's been it so far. We've just done our first proper shop. I splashed out on some heinz beans for myself. I don't care what Olivia says, i will have luxury beans. I don't eat no homebrand beans. Urgh.
Off for a swimswim now! Bye all x
