Hello From Byron Bay!
We arrived here on Sunday, after missing our coach (there fault, not mine!), luckily they put us on one a few hours after.
We stayed in a cheapy backpackers, in a dorm with 8 other people. It was alright, but I would like to avoid that in the future! Olivia and I shared a bunk with two other people. Olivia's man we renamed 'mattress w***er'. He was old, hairy and annoying and kept getting up in the night and acting strangely. The man underneath mine was alright, spoke to him when we arrived and he was rolling a joint. Typical Byron.
We were really tired from the night before so we went to bed pretty early. Boring.
Monday, we got the free bus into town and went to the beach after a look around the shops. The highstreet here is really nice, it's all hippy, ethnicy, beachy, boutiquey shops. We were starving after an hour at the beach and went home to eat our 69c canned spaghetti (PLEASE SOMEONE SEND ME MONEY, THIS IS ALL I'M EATING!). We decided we'd walk to the lighthouse that evening for sunset, having no idea where it is and just following signs. We walked for a while then ended up on the trail leading to it...and after climbing what felt like 100000 stairs and nearly dying, we were there.
The views were incredible. Everywhere you looked there was aqua blue, clear sea which was amazing. Olivia saw dolphins :( I was too busy taking photos of the lighthouse. We were standing at 'the most easterly point in Australia'...cool huh? Check out my Feb 2010 album for photos of it!
Yesterday was spent waiting for Fizz etc to arrive...so we left the backpackers in the morning along with our bags to wait for them in town. 12 HOURS LATER THEY ARRIVE. We had a long wait and got given free food from a lady we met in the park.
Anyway, today we're on the road. We stayed in the vans last night (tight squeeze) and we're heading down south to sydney.
Not sure when i'll be on again, but knowing us, probably soon.
