Hello once again, are you ready for my final blog entry in Australia?
I arrived here in Sydney about 3 days ago after our weekish long road trip in Trent (the van) sadly came to an end. I had a lovely time, and saw loads of great 'untouched' places that arn't packed with all the tourists.
After Coolangatta, we drove inland slightly and ended up in a place called Yamba, basically in the middle of nowhere. It was a cute little town with a brand new backpackers, it was like staying in a hotel! We had bedside lamps! We checked out the local nightlife (not great) then just went to bed, quite late actually.
From Yamba we drove about 10mins to Angourie, where we had a walk along the rocks right next to the sea, and had a swim...then we jumped off some rocks into a rockpooly thing...HURTS YOUR EARS. Yes i was in a lot of pain after that...but what did cheer me up was watching Olivia and Fizz photograph Jasper naked in the shower...all for our mums, because we realised that Jasper is a Mum magnet...(photos to come soon...or just check my facebook). That afternoon we headed to Emerald beach, another secluded area. I sat high up on the headland overlooking a beach which nobody on it, watching Fizz and Jasper surf and chatted to some guys. It was the most amazing view, and I had kangaroos hopping around not far from me either. I even managed to spot a couple of dolphins, very close to Jasper in the water (jealous).
We drove for another hour because we were going to Cassia's house, who kindly let us stay the night (which was amazing)...we turned up and dinner was ready...steak, chicken and potatos. We all basically got over excited about proper food after living off baked beans/rice/cereal/nutino (nutella). I had the BEST nights sleep and woke up to pancakes. Amazing.
Armidale (or Marmalade) was our next destination. The ghost town. No-one goes out of their house (or pub) after 5pm in Armidale. Did i mention it's absolutely freezing? Yes. It felt like England. It's the highest mainland point in Australia. Did i also mention that I HAVE NO WARM CLOTHES? Because, you know, being in Australia you think that you wouldn't need them...lucky i have fizz, i just wore PJs and all her clothes. We all explored the town wearing a hat. Jasper chose a Christmas Hat and didn't take it off for another 3 days after that.
The next day, after staying in a weird backpackers on a campsite, we went to the Aboriginal Museum, because that's the whole reason we were there. We were greeted by a little old lady who said she'd 'show us around'...we all stood in the same spot and she pointed to several sections in a building that is probably the same size as your lounge...haha. Also, it was pretty rubbish. It didn't help that it was so cold I went in wearing checked PJs and Jaspers checked shirt. I looked like a lesbian painter and decorator.
We made Jasper drive us out of Armidale pretty soon after that...so we got back to the coast after a day of driving and ended up at Elizabeth beach, which was gorgeous. We got there late so ate dinner and made a few friends, i spoke to my MUMMY AND DADDY on the phone, yay! The sunset was amazing and we woke up to a SUNNY DAY! That was extrodinary as most of the road trip there was rain. We all rushed out onto the beach and had a bake in the sun...and decided today was the day for our naked photo we'd been planning. I was sceptical but kept my mind open as we wandered around searching for a secluded beach, perfect for nakedness. We walked across to the other side of the beach, and as i caught up Fizz turns to me and says 'Look where we've ended up'..I turn around to see the man who walked past me not 5 minutes ago, STARK...b******...NAKED. Yep, that's right gang, we arrived COMPLETELY ACCIDENTLY onto a nudist beach! "PERFECT!" We all thought as we started stripping off. We roped Jasper into taking the photos...(lucky him i know you're all thinking...truth is...Jasper was more like 'DO I HAVE TO?')...he felt uncomfortable on the nudist beach. Anyway so boobs out. Fine. No-one looking (apart from the naked man walking past with the black willy and fag hanging out of his mouth ohgodohgodohgod). 3-2-1 PANTS OFF! I did it! We all burst out laughing between the 'I CAN'T BELIEVE WE'RE DOING THIS' and shuffled VERY awkwardly to the sea. Our white bits and awkwardness were a big give away to the fact we were nudist virgins. After posing for our photos we jumped into the sea, relieved to be hidden, when we realised the sea isn't brown like England but crystal clear. Oh well. It was WONDERFUL! Gotta love a skinny dip, even when you are looking at old people naked at the same time.
ANYWAY, to moving quickly past the nakedness, that night we arrived in Sydney. Unfortunately, as we're flying out today we haven't had loads of time to do stuff. We spent two nights in Cronulla at Jaspers Aunt and Uncles house, then headed to Bondi for 2 nights at Fizz's Cousins place. In between trying to sell the van, we've had a look around and it is really nice here. Yesterday we went to Coogee, where my daddy used to live, to take some photos for him there...then we drove to Watsons Bay (also where we were told to go by Fazh) and it was really nice. A great view of the Harbour...we followed Fizz over some MORE rocks and ended up at a nice little rock pool place...and Fizz and Olivia got naked for a photo op AGAIN. Me being the photographer this time though...
That afternoon Olivia and I got a bus into the town centre of Sydney to see the Opera House etc...that was great! It was a really sunny, hot afternoon and as the sun got lower the Opera House looked more fantastic. My photos do not do it justice, it's just such a cool thing to see up close, along with the Harbour Bridge. We couldn't stay long though as Fizz and I were going out in Bondi and Olivia had to leave as we all fly away TODAY!
Which reminds me, I really should go...I'll probably crash out seeing as i've had FOUR HOURS SLEEP. God, Fizz is such a bad influence.
Wish me luck...this whole plane catching is so new to me...and being in Indonesia...surely something is gonna go wrong?! Bye Now! x
