Kuching, or Cat City in English, there was plenty of rain but funnily enough no cats. (Except of course for the one that sounded like it was being dipped in acid at 5am outside the building where we stayed!) The final destination of our journey and were off to see the orangutans of Borneo. On the flight over, Andrea was sitting next to a palm oil investor which really hit home how threatened these amazing creatures are. (incidentally, this dude stopped talking to Andrea when he found out we were there to visit an orangutan sanctuary!) We went to Semonggoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre to meet Ritchie, Delima, Nora and the whole gang. Feeding time saw a number of orangutans come down only to see Ritchie, the alpha male, take his fill of the banana supply! 26 orangutans are residents there and it certainly was a heart-warming experience. Malaysia was easily the cheapest of our destinations and with a soaring Aussie dollar, the old bank account suffered the least here. We near the end of our round the world experience with our marriage still intact which is always a bonus!
