OK ok, everyone was asking for an update so I have to give you guys one quick one, cos my time on the internet is running out! anyhoo...
Manly was a cute place. I tried to find a job and an appartment, but didnt succeed. I had lotsa fun though. Went surfing once in the frecking cold water with a nice surfer guy from France (YES my sis, they ARE gorgeous..!!). I had lots of fun, but I h urt my thigh a bit, because the water was too cold.
I decided to leave Sydney and go on a road trip with Tuisku, Max and Nick to Melbourne. It took us three hours to get out of Sydney hehe, because of the lefthand side traffic and sucky maps. And highway tolls. We visited the Blue Mountains and it was beautiful! I will try to get some pictures here asap. We set up a camp and had good food and wine...then we slept in tents (us girls were faster putting the tent up you know!! canada aka Max and Nick, you should practise more..) And it was COLD. And the ground was pretty hard.. my mattress wasnt inflated properly. The next mornig we left early and drove down to Batemans Bay and spent a night in a hostel. I tought a swedish and some other canadians a nice drinnking game to play. Guess who had a pretty bad headache the next morning..
We drove the whole day to reach Melbourne at six o'clock. In the car we decided with Tuisku to stay in different hostels. I think I got on her nerves hehe.. But it's all good. Im never alone even though I would "travel alone". I've been staying in St.Kilda at the Cooee Hostel and I've got lots of friends here. And I have some pretty good news too: the very first day here I got a job in customer sales and also an appartment to share with an irish girl Marie! I called my lovely mother in the evening to tell the good news, and I had a pretty hard time to talk finnish.. I think I sounded a bit like a foreigner, at least I thought so. This is what happens when you travel. ANYHOO, Im moving to my new appartment tomorrow and also I start work tomorrow. Our flat is in St.Kilda in the jewish are, which is a very lovely neighbourhood and quiet too. Its good! And my work is in Melbourne center,15mins away by tram.
I hope I can wake up early enough tomorrow morning. I start work around nine o'clock in the morning. It would be no biggie if I would have kept the same rhythym as earlier..but last nite we decided to go and see what Melbourne city center is like on a saturday night.. And we got back to the hostel at four o'clock in the morning. The french guys Joe and Gerome got theirselves some crazy idea to grab an ironing board and a chair from the street..and they brought them back to the hostel. Gerome was surfing in front of the reception with his blue ironing board and Joe was a proudass with is brown leather chair. When Gerome didnt succeed in getting any surfstudents, he took the ironing board away and came back with a thick cushion and threw it on the floor in front of me and asked with his tinted french accent "do you want to sit?".. I can tell you, at that hour, it was hilarious! We stayed up till six thirty, had breakfast and went to bed. I slept six hours and now Im trying to fight my way through the day. With my whiskybass voice..yep, I lost my voice...AGAIN!
In the evening I might go see Nealy, who I was hanging out with in Fiji, and we might a BBQ!That would be great.
Wish me luck with tomorrow. Im excited to go to work even though I know its going to be hard, because after not doing anything for three months.. its a big step to go to work. But I need it.
All my love to everyone back home, and especially to the cute babies who are getting bigger by the day.
Love,
Liisa
