Hello there,
It was a weirdly fast flight from Melbourne to Bangkok. I read Twilight on the way and drank heaps of red wine. Thanks for the tip, Mike! I was nervous when we landed, because I had no idea where to go and how to travel again. Australia is a second home for me.
I met a german girl at the airport and we shared a cab to Khao San Road - the main backpacker hell. I guess it was an easy start, not a quiet one. It didnt take long to remember what it's like to be in Asia. People approach me from five different directions at the same time. Its crazy! "Ping ponngg shoow, where you go? cheap cheap PiNNNGG POONNGGG" "tuk tuk- very cheap fast, where you go? cheap cheap tuktuk for you." It never stops.
We got a reasonable priced room and it was very clean. Brite wanted to have a drink and I went with her, but almost fell asleep in the middle of all this hustle and bustle, because I hadn't slept in over 12 hours.
After a good nights sleep we had a disappointing western brekkie waiting for us downstairs - I wa shoping for something super thai, but no. We walked up and down Khao San and then took a tuktuk to MBK and went shopping. I didnt need to buy anything yet, so I went to pamper myself with a facial and massage - all for only 8 euros! Sweeet. We went sightseeing and realised just how big Bangkok is. I decided to head to the islands for some diving, and deal with Bangkok later. I booked a dogdy bus-catamaran ticket from a cute old lady at a Khao San road travel agency.. I fully trusted her until I read stuff about the infamous travel agencies on khao san. Panic rose and I went to double check everything. She was so calm and straight forward I had nothing left but to trust her.
Everything went well after all the panicking. Someone picked me up with several other travellers with him, and we walked to the bus station. After a crazy 10 hour bus and 2 hour catamaran ride, we arrived to Koh Phangan and crashed at the cute bangalows...getting ready for the crazy Full Moon party.
Its beautiful here, but we were a bit unlucky to get some rain tonight.. Hopefully it will pass as I want to see the full moon shine over here. I dont want to stay on this island for long. After the party I will head to Koh Tao for some maxin and relaxin..and heaps of diving! Wish me luck!
