hi all
i have travelled through thailand, malaysia and now im in singapore.
Our last day in Kuala lumpur was a wash out. finally got paula and tracy out of bed so we tried to go see the sites. we got on the train to the sites, got of the train walked outside, said this is 'crap' and got back on train again back to the hotel.
We went to some chinese rest that nite, where tracy could not find any food to eat at all. everything she ordered was terrible. one of the dishes even smelt of cat food. mine had alot of oranges in it and of course i reacted to it. not to bad though took tablets and still managed to go for a drink with the tour guide terry. left paula and tracy to go shopping on the street markets. you know me cant be doing that sort of shopping. dont have the patience.
Early rise again the next day. the only thing im happy about leaving the trek is no more early rises.. they were terrible.
we went to Maleka.. oh my god never ever go to that place . its terrible... It was raining which didnt help but to make it worse the guest house we were staying in was a replica of a prison. it was old dirty and the rooms had a basic bed in it and that is it. The looks on our faces as we arrived were hillarious. there was also 1 toilet and 1 OUTDOOR!!!! shower between 20 of us. you can imagine the arguments over the shower that nite.
There is nothing to do in the place. its an old town that has been taken over by every country in the world in its past so is weird. We literally all stayed in the starbucks in the thing they call a shopping mall for the remainder of the day.
the only good thing was though the dinner that nite. Terry made paula an i walk for 30 mins trying to find a ATM in a big circle which meant we were late for dinner but the waiter was hillarious. i was claire 0' 50 for the nite!! (its the only way they can split the bill by giving us numbers). The place was gorgeous and it done proper food and what you ordered actually arrived as wat you expected!! there was also a guy called alan who played the guitar and sang. he was soooo good. tracy wants to marry him and take him home to belfast. we didnt plan to stay long but it ended up tracy paula, a guy paul and terry and me staying to the very end, nearly missing the guest houses curfue of 12.30 but we did get free drink from the bar man!! i think he was trying to get us all drunk.
my room in the place was also beside a well which reminded me of the well in the film ' the ring' so yeah you can imagine i didnt get much sleep that nite.
long bus journey again... through immigration of malaysia and then singapore... its such a hassle on and off the bus...
Arrived in singapore early afternoon. so good to be in civilisation again. Singapore is a gorgeous city. its outstanding. this is a city everyone should def come to. The buildings are great. of course the first thing we done was hit the shops!! but the best bit was our hotel. it was clean!!!! and you get an apple unpon arrived (dont ask some kind of custom).
We headed out that nite for our farewell dinner. The dinner was lovely beside the harbour. the place is a nicer version of the waterfront in london. It was all lite up and gorgeous.
Went to the famous Ruffles hotel and got a singapore sling (Their famous alocholic drink) expensive but gorgeous but the bar has peanut shells all over the floor. its their thing but i didnt get it. The city was lovely as we walked home. its very clean and very safe to walk around.
Well finally off the trek now and we have booked into our 4* hotel. now this is wat we should have been staying in the entire time!! its stunning. so clean and gorgeous. We are on the 9th floor out of 23 and the view is amazing. We are also over looking the swimming pool. havent managed to go the gym they have though( and probably wont go).
We went to the sinapore Zoo an nite safari yesterday. We didnt managed to get round the whole zoo ran out of time but it was great. we saw so many animals but it was heart breaking to see them all in captivity. The polar bear was out of the world. he was so big and so cuddly looking. but he just swam around the tank thing in the same direction the entire time. it rains quite an bit here so we got drenced!!!. paula and bought kids umberellas the day befor, but everyone were laughing at us so we dumbed them. they were cool though. pink and green - didnt cover much though.
the nite Safari was great. we got the tram though as we were too tired by that stage to walk around. The lions and deer were so cool. and the cheeta's were funny!! they really are evil creatures. it seemed that all the animals were free to walk around and we did get very close to them but we could see the electric wires on the ground that kept them in. that was terrible.
We watch the tribal dancing at the end and they got tracy up on the stage to join them. i didnt get to see much of wat was happening on stage as i was crying with laughter. her face was so funny and they made her dance with the fire etc. we were all in stitches at her! go on tracy!!
just went for a quite drink with a few of the people from the trek to say goodbye. it was very sad... i even cried!! but that was with terry (yes mum i was having a 'thing' with the tour guide - dont ask any questions - not answering them). but we will probably all meet anyway in austrialia so not all doom and gloom.
well that is all for now. speak to you all again once i arrive in melbourne and i get my new phone number
