The ultimate part of the trip lands us in the popular tourist hub of Inle (inlay) lake. Once there, we checked in to the lavish 'lady princess hotel'. Feeling dishevelled and broken from the effects of Myanmar food/ water and travelling in such quick succession in the past week, we had a nice relaxing day. Meandering the town and markets during the day and winding down at the vineyard, yes that's right vineyard, in time for the sun to go down. Indulging ourselves in a bottle of Pinot noir and some blue cheese (we couldn't believe it either). Dinner time was something representative of a biblical story, the last supper (but only 5 disciples. Disciples who are followers of our 'deity', the world map, with lonely planet as our 'bible').
The following day we rented a boat to take us around the lake. All aligned in a small fisher boat, we sped off around the back waters of Inle. We visited a bamboo hut raised on stilts above the water that produced and sold silver. paddled across the water through a floating garden, cultivating and harvesting vegetables, an allotment on water you could say.
At 7 that night we caught the bus that would take us to the Thai border. Where our Myanmar journey would come to an end.....
