PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE ANOTHER ENTRY FOR BOSTON AND ONE FOR PORTLAND THAT WE RECENTLY ADDED.
New York 28th October to 1st November
New York, New York! First impression awful, second impression awesome!!
Brilliant location just off Broadway and Time Square. Able to stroll around in the evenings soaking up the buzzy atmosphere. We were told not to walk about at night-but being us we totally ignored the advice and totally fitted in with the locals. Yes, Jamie we mixed with the hard guys!Walked to Greenwich village, land of restaurants, clubs and student life{ hotel staff couldnot believe that we would want to walk that far} By chance found an amazingly local and quirky Italian restaurant which was fantastic for people watching. Got talking to man/woman! writer or poet - Sandy decided that he was very famous. He was very informative and we had a great evening. We loved his outfit too!!
Next day had breakfast in local cafe{ we had to live the American dream} We walked to Central Park, the only place to be on a Sunday. We rubbed shoulders with the rich and famous. Went to the Metropolitan Museum of Fine Art and spent three happy hours{ a must if you visit New York} In the evening we visited the famous Blue Note Cafe for a meal and live jazz - a brilliant experience! The singer grew up in Haarlem before getting her break - she has worked with every one including the great Billie Holliday and named dropped throughout the performance. We loved her singing! Quite a girl!
