Standard eggy breakfast after a lie-in and then back on board with new BFF Americo to visit Pachacamac, the capital of Chimu culture in the 14th century.
Americo takes the scenic route there, passing the newly elected Peruvian presidents house in decidedly upmarket San Isidro. PPK takes office in the 28th July, Independence Day. Then via Miraflores, the plush coastal district, and home to Maria Reiche, re-discoverer of the Nazca lines.
The Pachacamac exhibition centre is rather the star of the show, a modern yet sympathetic piece of architecture, which is more than can be said for much of peru's recent built environment - a hotch-potch of nastiness, all flush fitting mirrored glass and unfinished top floors (to avoid paying tax, apparently).
After a pit stop at the food festival for a late lunch and travel supplies it's back to pack and to re-acquaint ourselves with the glories of long distance bus travel to Chiclayo!
