The packing saga continues. I'm still feeling very prepared with my flight still 8 days away. Deciding to start small I've tackled my hand luggage this morning in an attempt to delay packing my main bag for as long as possible!
So, the contents of my hand luggage is as follows:
Passport
Flight Tickets
Visa confirmation
Insurance Documents
Guide books
Flight socks
Knee support
Sunglasses
Journal/diary
Pens
Money belt
Camera and charger
Video Camera and charger
Portable phone charger
Memory Stick
Battery charger
Phone charger
Extension cord
Spare unlocked phone and charger
Small travel kettle
Plug adapter
Headphones
Liquids under 100ml in clear plastic wallet
My theory is that if you pack all your electricals (ie the heavy stuff) in your hand luggage, you can fit more weight in your main bag as seeing its rare for airlines to weigh your hand luggage.
As I am taking a fair amount of medication with me, this will also be divided between my hand luggage and my main luggage although I won't include it on either list.
I will also sometimes pack spare underwear and a change of clothes into my hand luggage in case of the airline losing my main bag.
So there you have it. Hand luggage sorted. There may be a few strictly unnecessary items in there, the main example being the kettle.. however I find this saves me a lot of money on the road. Buy 3-in-1 sachets of coffee and you're sorted. Did you know you can even boil an egg in a kettle? Little bit of extra weight and you can have coffee, egg and soldiers for breakfast even on the tightest budget!
