Global Adventure '06
Hola,
boy this has to be the most unfortunate looking dog I've seen, but at least he has a cool camouflage jacket. The doggy was at Pachacamac an incan settlement 30km outside of Lima, 25 soles in a taxi, 6 soles to get in and 1.50 soles on the bus on the way back. Beats the tour price of 35$US.
So what else have we done in the last few weeks, well the pics are on the site now, Huacachina, sandboarding and dune buggies, a truly exhilarating experience, albeit I was left with some pretty horrible burns down my arms. My advice to you if you should ever get the chance to do it, wear long sleeves and long trousers, it hurts, but it is the biggest thrill going however fast you go down a very steep incline on your belly, and it feels very fast.
With also visited the poor mans Galapagos Islands, Ballestas Isles, amazing, more birds than you can shake a stick at, boobies (phanarr), gannets and cormorants of all different types, a huge array of sea birds, sea lions, penguins, the lot. It's amazing I only got s*** on once. But hey it's meant to be lucky. Steveo you sure you don't owe me a beer.
Met up with Andy once again here in Lima, one of our Tucan Tours fellow travellers, buenos Aires to Rio. Which has been really cool the last few days.
Seen lots of World Cup football, albeit a lot of it has been quite poor. I am now staying in avery clean establishment called Inka Lodge, it's very nice, and the people are very friendly. Very crisp linen. It's also a lot cheaper than a hotel, so cool.
The other mjor thing I did was take a flight over the Nascar Lines, yet another great experience, what were they thinking with that astronaut. Depending on what computer screen you look at the photos with will determine how well you can distinguish the lines themselves, but from the very small plane, I rode shotgun, I had a great view, and the constant turning from side to side had little effect, although a few fellow passengers were not quite as comfortable, although I'm pleased to say there was no chundering.
The sights I have seen in Peru and South America, I have been truly impressed, we've seen condors, the deepest canyon, the biggest sand dunes, a wide range of wildlife, we've slept under the stars at Huacachina, on the beach under canvas at Puerta Inca with a roaring fire, everything you could wish for, Machu Pichu, Cusco, Arequipa, and I want to see more of this country, and that's just Peru. If you've been following our trip you know what we've already seen across the rest of South America and the world.
Most of all we've met really wondeful people, travellers and locals alike, I could go on and on, go on, would you like a cup of tea father?
take care, lots of love,
Pedro
