Hi guys, another installment from Byron Bay, latest on the missing board shorts, walking back from the hostel kitchen to the room discovered my shorts hung out to dry by somebody who had apparently borrowed them for several days, thought I'd left, washed em and hung em out to dry 5 doors down from our room. The cheek, but I'm very happy cos I stole them back. All sorts of scandal going on here at the YHA in Byron Bay, if you want to find out what, email me with subject melbourne/police raid/middle aged ladies, and a guy apparently with a large appendage.
Anyway I digress, just added the pictures from Fraser Island and our flight in the very small aeroplane. It was so cool, I was expecting to be very ill, but no problems in fact it felt like being in a 4wd going over smooth road and occasionally hitting a bump in the road. There's also some pics from Noosa, which looks flat calm in the pictures hence the photos with the cautionary life guard message "heavy dumping" where I got heavily dumped face first in the sand, split my chin, saw a few stars, and chipped a tooth. All good though, having so much fun. Back in the water an hour later.
One shot of Brisbane as I explained before we weren't keen, just love the beach too much, In fact we went to the cinema.
Then comes the surf adventure here in Byron Bay. Spent the day boogie boarding with Claire and Irish girls Sarah and Maria, that we met further up the coast, then the next day Sarah and I had the lesson with 3 others, and today went boogie boarding with a Swiss guy Daniel from the hostel and one of the girls from the surf lesson (Becca). It's so hard, those shots were the only evidence that I stood, albeit if only for half a second, maybe a second on a surfboard surfing a wave at Byron Bay in Australia, how cool is that!! But it actually looks as if I know what I'm doing. I got some money back because they guaranteed I would be standing properly by the end of the lesson. See how honest I am. I could have just said I was brilliant and too fast for the photographer to catch me. You'd never tell from those photos that I wasn't a pro, well maybe not. Hey it was good fun, but sooo difficult to balance. My height was a disadvantage. Actually I just pretended that I couldn't stand so I could get some money back. I also have bruise on the inside of my arms a few scrapes on my knees and belly, and arms, I ache all over from the surfing the last 3 days, but I feel great, touch wood. Claire had her Aura photographed and realised she was very green, meaning harmony, peace, and all things good. I love Byron Bay. We did some more boxed wine this week (goon) with our friends that we've met. Hooray!! Sorry if I'm rambling, having so much fun, we are the luckiest people. Last year seems a distant memory. The depressing thought is we've now done a month, only 5 months left. I'm not coming back ever. Travelling it's great. Meet wonderful people, sadly some you may never see again, see fantastic places, have super adventures, why doesn't everyone do this. In the eyes of a couple of guys the other day I was the coolest cat, because I was single, 33 no children and travelling the world and didn't look anywhere near my age. They thought I was 23. Met another girl who thought I was 28. I'm getting younger day by day, reverting to childhood. The last lot of pics is the sunrise, some on the beach from the other day, and some from this morning when myself, Claire and Becca were the first people to greet the sun in Australia standing as we were on the most easterly point in oz at 6.33am after walking for 40 minutes. Anyway gonna go now and get some relaxation. Sorry for any boring bits or repeats. Love to all Pete and Claire xxx
