Hey guys!
It's us again with our first blog from Australia!
As we arrived at Perth International Airport, my (Hias) dissapointment about easy immigration went to it's worst point. The immigration officer nice and friendly. The officer, who checked my bags for food and stuff (they are very strict in Australia with goods they let the border pass as they don't want foreign animals, bacteria... to be brought to the country) just wanted to see my hiking sandals and just didn't even wanted it to be x-rayed. Mike was luckier as his backpack was controlled from the top to the bottom and they even got some of his noodles from Asia (I could bring the same packages to the country).
As we went out the Airport the temperature shock was quite overwhelming. After 6 weeks with nearly always 35 degrees or more 17 degrees can feel very, very cold! But we quite liked it as the heat is heart to stand. Even when you get used to it in 6 weeks. We went to our Backpacker the Shiralee Hostel in Perth by Airport Shuttle and were really glad, as the hostel had nice bads a good kitchen, TV and even a Jackoozee that we enjoyed on our second evening.
Anyways, as we knew that Killi would arrive on the 10th of June we decided to get a campervan for the 6th so we could spend some time in the south of Western Australia and pick up Killi on the 10th to drive northwards together. Markus the swiss owner of The Shiralee helped us to find a campervan and so we got to Myaree (near Fremantle) by Taxi on the morning of the 6th to pick up our campervan there. Everything went well and after we bought lots of food and stuff at Woolworth we made our way to the south heading towards Albany on Highway 30. We arrived there after dusk and decided to sleep at the Airport parking lot. The only problem I had was that I was ill with fever and headache so I couldn't do that much.
The next day we had a really good time at Albany, as they have a National Park at the sea with really beautiful rocks and beaches... That same day we also went on to get close to the valley of the giants. The head huge old trees there and built a tree top walk (about 40m) high trough them. It was really cool to see the trees from 40m platforms (the trees themselves are about 60m) but in fact it was short, so we went on quite soon to go to an outpatients department in a town, that was about 120km away (thats short for Australia to reach the next hospital). But as my temeperature was ok when I was there (there thermometer showed 36,3 and mine showed 37,2) they said I showed obey the fever and luckiliy it dissapeared the night between 9th and 10th.
We drove on to Bunburry where Mike had some nice hours at a bar, as I was laying in our camper still recovering. On the 9th we had a really nice time as we visited the Dolphin World in Bunburry and made a dolphin watching cruise with 2 other people. First it seemed we shouldn't see any but at the end we saw a mother and her baby dolphin. That was really nice guys!
On the 10th we went back to Perth to pick Killi up from the Airport. We just arrived as he went out the Airport. All of us were really happy to see each other and now start our Australia joruney together. Killi was quite tired from the flight, but he still we decided to go out at night, as we did and had a really great time at some of Perth's Bars and walked back to our Camper (that parked not very far away) really drunk and a Kebap in everyones hand (for sure)
So have a nice time and enjoy our pictures!
