My mum and Dad have told me not to write too much on here, but atm I have paid in my hostel only about 1.50 to use the internet the whole time I`m here, so I`m going to make the most of it!! Thank you for your messages btw Mum and Dad, was lovely hearing from you.
Yesterday when I wrote my first blog, I was feeling a bit lonely. I ended up walking to the beach, was going to take a picture of the scenery and found that the only battery I had in my camera was flat. So I came back to my room, got my portugese frasebook and went back on the computer and met someone called Chris from London. We were talking a bit, then he suggested going for a beer on the beach. So there we went, I ordered a fish and chips and beer and the fish was a whole fish which had been fried! It still had it`s eyes on it!!
Got on really well with Chris, although he is moving to an apartment further down the beach because 3 of his friends are flying out today. I have met a few other people around here because I went to see a football game last night.
It was only local games, but it was good. Although I was so tired seeing as I`d only slept for about 3 hrs on the plane the night before, so I was dozing off during the first half. In the second half, the team that we were there for (Portafuga, I think it`s spelt) scored 2 goals! Everyone went crazy and was jumping on the chairs. Lots of people were shouting at the players and it looked abusive, but I think it looked worse because I couldn´t understand a word they were saying!
Well I think that is all for now, apart from today I will be going to one of the poorest areas in Rio, can`t think what it`s called tho, but it`s meant to be really good!
Thought I would continue todays blog instead of making a new one. The shanty town (favela) was amazing, I will put the photos on, but I can`t be bothered to go upstairs yet to get my card reader, how lazy am I! The houses are up in the mountains (basically), we had to get on scooter style motorbike to get to the top and no-one cares about anyone else on the roads, they are all out there for themselves, it`s quite scary sometimes. We joined some other people from other hostels to go to the favelas, so there were a few canadians, an australian guy and some swedish people.
I`m going to an all you can eat buffet tonight with some of the people who are staying in my hostel so all is good. It is lovely being able to come on the internet so much at the moment, but I know that won`t last. So that`s all from me today, hope to chat to some of you on facebook or on msn or even via messages on here.
