So I made it to Cape Town! And it really is a beautiful place, situated between the bay and Table Mountain. It's summer over here so enjoying the sun and warm weather and topping up the tan!
We've now left the truck behind and are going it alone which is great. We found a cool hostel on Long Street ($10 a night - cant go wrong!) which is where everything happens in Cape Town. Good bars, cheap food and lots of other backpackers. We're staying here until Saturday morning and then we're heading for the Garden Route to do some whale watching, shark dives and some surfing.
Yesterday we climbed Table Mountain. It wasn't too difficult and the views were amazing. There were clouds at the top but they cleared every so often so you could look at Cape Town below. We took the cable car down which was fun. We also hung out at the waterfront and saw seals.
Later on today we head to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. It should be very interesting - the tour guides are old political prisoners who spent time on the island during Apartheid. Then I'm hoping to find somewhere to watch the England game!
On Friday we're planning to do some abseiling and kloofing. Basically, they take us out to gorges and bays and we hike along rivers, abseil down water falls and jump off big cliffs into the sea. Gonna be amazing! We use a tour company so its all 100% safe - no worries!
Anyway, hope everyone's good and I'll be in touch soon
