Well here we are day one of our holiday to sorrento. Lynn as is her way for holidays and Christmas was up at the crack of dawn and would not let me sleep past 07:10.
We had packed the previous night and taken the main luggage down to Lynn's parents already so only thing left was to get hand luggage packed and then walk to the in-laws.
Well it is a good thing we were heading to the warm climate of Italy as it was raining quite heavily in Edinburgh so after twenty five minutes we arrived a bit sodden to find the rest of the family doing last minute packing.
Taxi arrived to take us to Glasgow airport and after an hours drive in a spacious Mercedes people carrier we arrived ready to start the holiday.
After a short wait we checked our cases in, made our way through security and proceeded to find somewhere for lunch. Frankie and Bennys always goes down well with everyone do we settled on there and after being shown to our table we realised it was the exact same table we had sat at when due to fly to Florida four years prior.
Time seemed to be passing quickly and it was not long before we had boarded the plane and were in the air bound for Naples airport.
The flight was comfortable with only one small patch of turbulence and having left the rain behind us we looked out on clear blue skies affording us a stunning view of the alps.
Three hours passed and we landed in a sunny and warm Naples, unfortunately I think it was too warm for our luggage as it took around an hour to arrive at the reclaim belt.
A coach journey was the next item on the itinerary and after an hour in the coach we arrived at the hotel. I will say that despite the narrow and twisty roads the coach got us there without issue even though the other road users were more then happy to challenge the coach for the same piece of road.
Check in was quick and we were informed that the restaurant was closed but plates of cold meats and cheese had been left in our rooms. Well I can happily say my meal was delicious and had some of the best mozzarella I have ever tasted. Lynn said her meal was quite dry but that was not surprising as it would have probably been there some time due to our late arrival.
We all met up and headed into town for a drink at the Fourno bar. It was so relaxing drinking a glass if cold white wine and watching the bustle of Sorrento's nightlife, especially at 23:00!
We then headed back to the hotel but not before stopping at the shop Pepe now manages where he plied Lynn, Karen and Sandra with delicious ice-cream whilst Alastair and I had a couple of beers.
We finally made it back to the hotel at around 00:30 and collapsed into bed for a comfortable nights sleep.
