Well I have to say last nights sleep was probably one of the better nights I have had in a long time. After a shower we headed to the restaurant to meet the others for breakfast which consisted of cold meats, cheeses fruit salad and yogurt. It was also my first opportunity to try Italian coffee and boy it tasted good.
The plan for today was to have a wander around Sorrento and explore a bit. First call was the Faurno bar for more coffee and people watching. I will say that italian's take a rather adventurous attitude to driving and with cars and the multitude of mopeds going all over the place it is surprising there are no accidents.
It was nice seeing Sorrento in the daylight and as the temperature made its way to around 30 degrees we took a slow walk down to the marina stopping in at the assortment of shops that seem to spring out of every nook and cranny.
Looking out on the bay of Naples with its deep blue water and watching the various boats and ships enjoying the glorious sunshine made me feel very relaxed.
We had lunch at Dauphino's which is a seafood restaurant located on the marina next to the beach.
I have to admit I am not a big seafood fan but had made a vow to myself that I was going to try new things so I settled on the seafood ravioli. Now in my mind I was going to get ravioli filled with various seafood, so I was a little taken aback to receive a plate of ravioli with clams, mussels and other shellfish piled on top. The look on my face gave the others much amusement! Now I have not had shellfish before and the prospect of removing the alien looking blobs from their shells and eating them filled me with dread but I steeled myself and set about this challenge! Well I am happy to say I finished the lot and whilst I would not say they are my new favourites but if presented with them in the future I would not be reluctant to eat them.
We then proceeded to take a slow walk back up the hill in the very hot sun and by the time we reached the hotel almost everyone was ready for a siesta.
While everyone else had a snooze Lynn and I made our way to the sun deck with our books and just lay on the loungers enjoying a good read. Of course the sun moves and Lynn insisted I keep on moving the parasol to keep her shaded, oh the joys of married life.
Dinner in the hotel was ok and after being suitably fed we made our way back into town to enjoy the night life once more and have a look at the shops again.
Well it is now 23:00 and we are having a drink in the bar before heading to bed all suitably knackered
