Torrential rain in the Pyrenees.......
Last night was wet, very wet....... it started out as a gentle drizzle as we
were going to bed about 2330 and gradually progressed to lashing rain,
obviously amplified by being sat in the tent. Throughout the night (during
those lulls when the rain abated a little) we I could hear a variety of
dripping and awoke this morning to a few small puddles in our outer tent -
the inner is bone dry though. I'm glad to say it's not at all cold :-) which
is somewhat fortunate as we don't really have any cold weather gear with us,
probably because you don't expect to need it in the South of France in late
August. Well, we'll see what today bring but suspect a trip to the local hot
springs might be in order - at least there we'll be getting wet for a purpose!
Well, we didn't make it to the hot springs but we did have a fairly nice
steady day...... between showers, in the evening we decided that rather than
try to cook we'd pop down to the local town and grab a bite to eat. What a
great decidsion, we found a small pizza place and shared a very nice thin
base pizza and a couple of different salads....... and a slug or two of wine
- very relaxing and uplifting after the miserable weather. When we came out
of the restaraunt into the town square there was a band set up on a temporary
stage and they'd put a few gazebos around for people to stand under
(obviously expecting the weather to contine on it's trend!). The band were
great and there should be some video clips of them on the website for you to
watch/listen to, er, it's all in French but they were pretty good and at
least they could perform!
We turned in late to a dry night.......... but then it rained torrentially
again, everything it wet now..... we are moving on tomorrow, chasing the sun
- if there is any. We heard Moscow was nice and warm......
cheers for now
